How much bleeding is normal after smart liposuction? I am still in my 24 post surgical period

After liposuction it is normal to have leakage of fluid as we put more in than we take out but bright red blood is an alarm bell that warrants a visit to your doc!

Some bleeding is normal but usually it's diluted. However, "soaked in blood" doesn't sound normal. You should see your surgeon asap just in case.

It is not normal to have significant bleeding from liposuction, I suggest seeing your physician for an evaluation.  It is normal to have drainage that is blood tinged.  But bright red blood needs to be evaluated.  Best, Dr. Emer.

What is normal would be the tumescent fluid that could leak through the liposuction holes. This fluid is usually not as thick as blood and the leak should stop in a couple of days.  Bruising is expected but I would recommend you see your doctor. If you have one side of your body that is bulging or getting bigger and more painful you could have a hematoma and you need to be evaluated sooner than later.
