I am having smartlipo done next Monday Aug 25. Then I am moving back to University on Sept 2. It's frosh week so I will be going out to bars all night and drinking from time to time. Is this going to be a problem?
Answer: Alcohol after smartlipo You should really ask your surgeon first. It may be okay to drink alcohol if you're not too swollen and you're recovering well. I wouldn't suggest you drink too much, though, because it could compromise your healing.

Answer: SmartLipo and Alcohol Alcohol is more of a problem prior to the procedure as it can increase the chance of poor wound healing and bruising/swelling. 7-10 days after the procedure it is okay to drink. I never suggest binge drinking ever anyway. However, if you want the best results from your procedure, you would eat right and exercise post treatment to ensure the swelling subsides quicker and you get more even healing with skin tightening. I would avoid alcohol, drugs or high salt foods. Best, Dr. Emer.

Answer: Make sure you are healing properly Thank you for your question. Consuming alcohol before your procedure can be an issue thinning your blood. After Smartlipo I would wait at least a week to make sure you are healing properly before alcohol consumption. Follow up with your doctor and continue to wear your compression garment.

Answer: Drinking After SmartLipo Dear Cassiclee, SmartLipo™, or laser lipolysis, is a more advanced and modern way of performing liposuction, where a laser is used to liquefy the fat and coagulate the blood vessels, leading to a more gentle procedure. In addition, the heat generated from the laser will result in enhanced contraction. Postoperatively, after any liposuction procedure, a temporary use of compression garmenting and reasonable physical activity is encouraged.Modest drinking should not compromise the postoperative outcome; however, excessive drinking will lead to food shifts and may result in more swelling and irregularity. Modest consumption of alcohol and postoperative exercise is usually encouraged and communication with your SmartLipo™ surgeon as to the specific postoperative care instructions would be encouraged. I trust this information has been helpful and best of luck. Sincerely, R. Stephen Mulholland, M.D. Board certified plastic surgeon Yorkville, Toronto
