Do you recommend an anticoagulant for preventing blood clots to be administered after a breast lift with augmentation surgery? I have no blood clotting disorder what so ever, just want to be on the safe side. Thank you! :)

Answer: Blood Clot Prevention The American Society of Plastic Surgeons has published strategies for thromboembolism prevention, which allow the surgeon to assess a risk factor score for each patient. Based on that score, the need for pharmacologic anticoagulation can be made. At a minimum, sequential compression devices placed on the legs provide reasonable mechanical prophylaxis for the majority of patients.

Answer: Anticoagulants Google the Caprini scale and ASPS ( American Society of Plastic Surgeons) . There is a good set of guidelines for prophylaxis based upon a point system. You shouldn't need it if you're healthy and I think it increases the risk of bleeding problems.
