This is a lot of surgery at once, however I always give my patients the lower dosage of percocet unless there is a reason they would need the higher dose. I reserve higher doses for patients who are on narcotic pain medications at baseline (and thus their body is used to narcotic medication), or who have not done well on the lower dose after trying it for some time. I find the latter very rarely, and starting with the lower dose is safer and works I have found more than 99% of the time. With the higher dose you risk more side effects like sleepiness, stomach upset, feeling "out of it" and constipation. If the pain meds are not completely cutting it I prefer to add a muscle relaxant like cyclobenzaprine or hydroxyzine before going up on the narcotic dose.
