I'm a 16 yr old female and I really want to lower my hairline. I was born with a high hairline and it's unflattering. Being a teenager, getting made fun of is not fun. I was wondering what would be the best method for me? A hairline lowering procedure or a hair transplant? If a hair transplant around how many grafts of hair would I need to get my desired hairline? (see pic) approx. cost? I want to get rid of that hump I have on my profile. I don't want a super small forehead, just a bit smaller.

Hairline lowering surgery is quite invasive and will leave a linear scar. It involves excising a section of the upper forehead to bring down your natural hairline. The edges of the wound are then closed which produces the scar. However grafts are removed from elsewhere on the head or nape using punches and inserted to make the scar less visible. Follicular Unit Extraction involves the use of punches to harvest the set of hairs needed to cover the margin of the  forehead that is the source of concern. Finer nape hairs are used to create the detail of a soft, natural looking edge in the final results. The final outcome will start to manifest about four months following your surgery. But the long term results are probably more desirable since there is no scarring.

Being a 16 year-old young female can be hard if you do not like your appearance and do not like your high hair line.  Cosmetic surgery such as forehead reduction or hair transplants surgery is possible, but you need to understand the risks and have a understand there are limitations to what the surgery can provide.  What you want is possible but you need to have your parent's consent.

Hairlines can be lowered with hair transplantation to avoid the  linear scar from traditional hair lowering surgery.    However, at 16 you would need parental consent.  This is a bit young to consider such a procedure.
