I am 27 and I have these festoons hanging under my eyes and always making me look tired. I've had them all my life and they are genetic. I would like to get filler in this area to help the appearance of them but I have heard that they can make it worse? What would be the best treatment option for me?

Fillers like Belotero, Volbella, and Restylane Silk are good for improving under the eyes, but keep in mind that a combination approach will give the most improvement. My patients try to get non-surgical treatments to avoid surgery, so we use fillers, lasers, microneedling/PRP and stem cells. What you have is definitely congenital from a difference in the orbital ligament and the way your muscles attach to the bone below the eye. These are easily treated by an expert who understands the cause and associated anatomy. You are quite correct that filler in this area by someone else can worsen the problem. Unfortunately, the majority of injectors fit this category so be very careful who you choose to treat you.
