Is rhinoplasty and breast augmentation possible with a 10.2 hemoglobin?

Question

Will a 10.2 hemoglobin level prevent a surgeon from performing a dual rhinoplasty and breast augmentation in a young adult woman? If is the baseline, have Crohns disease, and GI OR PCP approval.

Both procedures have minimal blood loss in the range of 20-30 ml the most. I do not see why you should not have one at the time, in particular if your Hg is low in general. Further consultation with your PCP and plastic surgeon is recommended. Good luck.

10.2 hemoglobin is slightly low but is not a contra-indication for surgery.  During a rhinoplasty usually very light blood is lost not during a breast augmentation.

Rhinoplasty and breast augmentation typically do not have significant blood loss, so it would be safe to operate a patient with a hemoglobin of this level. From the information you provided, I would also inquire if you are taking any medications for Crohns, because some of medications used to treat Crohns can impact wound healing and/or increase the risk of infection. From a surgeon's perspective, we want to limit the risk of infection as much as possible, especially when a foreign body like a breast implant is involved. You may have already gone through the steps to determine the etiology of your hemoglobin level (e.g. Crohns, deficiencies in iron, folate, B12...), so before surgery I would encourage you to do whatever you can to manage that as best as possible.
