How long after rhinoplasty is it safe to ski?

Hello! Im considering Rhinoplasty this winter (Nov/Dec). Im a skiier and wondering how long after a rhino it will be considered safe to ski? I am a good/lifelong skiier and am not too worried about falling but i recognize that it is always a possibility. Additionally, I do wear goggles when skiing and not sure when that becomes allowed! Thanks!

I usually tell my patients that 6 weeks postop is the earliest to ski and wear goggles, 8 weeks is better.  It depends a little on what exactly you're having done and if your surgery requires osteotomies or not, so check with your surgeon about the specifics of your case.

We have seen problematic nasal hemorrhages anytime within the first 21 days after rhinoplasty. In that regard, 22 days after surgery, we allow our patients to do whatever physical activity they like. I hope this helps! Sincerely, Dr Joseph

As far as I can understand from your question Heavy sports are not recommended for the first 6 months after rhinoplasty surgery. Other than that, you must protect your nose for the rest of your life.

Hello and thank you for your question. I allow my patients to exercise one week after surgery. Ski goggles are okay at two months. If you can get a visor instead of goggles, you could ski sooner than that. I recommend that you seek consultation with a qualified board-certified rhinoplasty surgeon who can evaluate you in person.
