Hi, so i didnt know where else to go after seeing a few doctors and getting an ultrasound and cat scans. I hope someone can help. I am 9 months post surgery. I had a tummy tuck, lipo 360 and lipo on my inner thighs. Its noow has been about 3-4 wks that a hard mass has appeared in my inner left thigh. Its red, warm and bothers more than it hurts sometimes. Somedays it looks bruised and not red and today i have noticed that its getting bigger. Can it be necrosis? Im scared

Answer: Heart mass nine months after liposuction This is unusual and because of that it needs to be worked up thoroughly. Liposuction results are final at three months after surgery and then that point there should be no significant changes except the color of the incisions Redness with warmth in the cage and inflammation and this may represent an infection. Typical bacterial infections present early after surgery but there are unusual infections that behave differently. I suggest getting an evaluation by an infectious disease specialist. A definitive diagnosis may require a biopsy or at least taking tissue cultures. Any tissue that would’ve died (necrosis) from liposuction would have been resolved by now. This could by a mycobacterium type of infection and should be evaluated by infectious disease doctor. What doctors have you seen? What have they said this is? Best, Mats Hagstrom, MD
