I don’t wanna make this a long story but I got into a verbal disagreement and glass was thrown into my face making me suffer some minor injuries but the main one was my lip being cut up. It was stitched by a plastic surgeon who said it wouldn’t keloid but it did. This is bad for me because I model. And right when my career was about to take off THIS ruins it. I wanna know if I could possibly get filler to fill in the other side of my lip to make it even? Is that recommended? HELP.
Answer: A combination of treatments can improve the appearance of this scar It looks like you've developed a hypertrophic scar following the surgery. Lip skin is thinner than skin on other parts of the body so even small imperfections are more easily visible. You can have this area injected with intralesional medication to soften the scar and break it up. This injection, combined with daily massage of the scar (strong enough to break up the scar tissue) for about 10 minutes a day can improve the appearance of this scar. Sometimes multiple injections may be needed. Injecting small amounts of filler around can also even out the appearance of the lip; however injecting filler around a scar makes the placement of the filler less predictable. It is certainly an option, though. Hope this helps!

Answer: Lip Asymmetry/plump — Juvederm, Restylane filler, Lip Lift; emeragcosmetics lip essentials + Emerageskin x anteage roller filler can be used but likely will only be small improvement but can be done. the best is to reduce the keloid with surgery or injections and do fillers. lasers wont help the keloids much here. I would use daily hydration and plumping (see emeragecosmetics lip essentials kit). everyone can do a little filler when done well really gives nice hydration and plumping. we are in NY every 2 months, coming this week. Best, Dr. Emer.

Answer: Lip filler concerns Hello and thank you for your question. It is always best to see you face to face for a consult and examination however in this case yes filler could be looked at as an option to help here. You would need to have an in person assessment to see if it would be suitable and get the result you are after. I hope that helps answer your question. Always seek an experienced and qualified medical professional for these treatments. Very best wishes

Answer: Scar Evolution vs Hypertrophic scar vs Keloid Dear Caring999555, Thank you for sharing your photos, I would also recommend in-person consultation so that your features can be better seen/felt and examined. The given photo highlighted some asymmetry at the injured / repaired area but no apparent keloid is seen. However, scars (surgical or traumatic) evolve over time, and it can cause some irregularity over the lip. This may take a few steroids injections or it may simply need sometime. In the mean time, massage over the scarred area often helps with lymphatic and scar to soften.

Answer: Understanding keloids Based on your pictures he did not have any evidence of having developed keloids. Keloid and development is extremely uncommon on the lips. There may be scar tissue which is a normal part of healing. Fillers will add volume and if your volume deficit is the problem then fillers may help. Lip scars can change lip contour because of scar tissue formation, scar tissue contraction or misalignment of anatomic approximation during the repair. These are however not volume deficit problems. Based on your pictures it looks like your plastic surgeon did a very nice job for you. Best, Mats Hagstrom MD
