I don’t wanna make this a long story but I got into a verbal disagreement and glass was thrown into my face making me suffer some minor injuries but the main one was my lip being cut up. It was stitched by a plastic surgeon who said it wouldn’t keloid but it did. This is bad for me because I model. And right when my career was about to take off THIS ruins it. I wanna know if I could possibly get filler to fill in the other side of my lip to make it even? Is that recommended? HELP.

Answer: Understanding keloids Based on your pictures he did not have any evidence of having developed keloids. Keloid and development is extremely uncommon on the lips. There may be scar tissue which is a normal part of healing. Fillers will add volume and if your volume deficit is the problem then fillers may help. Lip scars can change lip contour because of scar tissue formation, scar tissue contraction or misalignment of anatomic approximation during the repair. These are however not volume deficit problems. Based on your pictures it looks like your plastic surgeon did a very nice job for you. Best, Mats Hagstrom MD

Answer: Lip scar problem Your scar has healed quite well actually. There is no keloid. A keloid is a very thick raised scar that grows outside of the border of the original scar, almost like a tumor. Your scar is a little uneven and there is some prominence to the right edge of the scar. If the scar is less than 6-12 months from injury, there is still some improvement that you can have. If you are out further than that time frame, a scar revision could be done taking out that thicker edge. I don't think you would be at risk for a thicker scar because yours actually healed well with just a little asymmetry. So would think it could be improved. Good luck to you!
