One implant riding higher than the other six months post-op, is this normal? (Photo)

Question

I had my surgery six months ago in December 2020. ~350CC silicone implants. I had complications with my left side and had severe hematoma for a couple weeks but it eventually drained itself out. It took a week or two more for the incision to close after the right one. My right side healed pretty easily. I was told by my surgeon to be patient with my left side dropping, but now I am more concerned with what the outcome is so far down into recovery.

At this point postop your asymmetry is unlikely to improve without surgery, but a simple capsulotomy should be able to drop the high riding implant into the correct position!

I understand your concern. However, without a proper assessment, it would be difficult to determine what went wrong. It is best that you visit your plastic surgeon for further assessment or ask for a second opinion. Only after a thorough examination, you can get proper recommendations and advice.

Breast implant asymmetry is normal, up to a point. No two breasts are identical and they will not be identical after your breast augmentation. You may have had a pre-existing breast fold asymmetry, or your implants may have been placed differently. There are various reasons why your implants look like they do but it's impossible to give you more advice without knowing your pre- anatomy and what was done. It's best to speak to your plastic surgeon to get an idea of what to expect and if there is anything that can be done to address your concerns.

Thank you for sharing your question. If you have not seen any improvement after 6 months you will most likely require a revision surgery to correct the high-riding nature of the implant.  Hope this helps.

I encourage you to continue to follow the advice of your surgeon.  If the left implant does not drop into the pocket within the next few months, it may be necessary to have a surgical procedure to release it.

You did not show your before photos to tell if you were even prior to surgery. However, you may have a capsule that is not letting your implant drop. Accolate medication and external ultrasound therapy might be helpful.
