Hello, and thank you for your question regarding hypopigmentation following a Kenalog 40 injection after rhinoplasty. Dealing with skin discoloration can be concerning, but there are several approaches you can consider:Understanding Hypopigmentation:Kenalog (triamcinolone acetonide) is a corticosteroid that can sometimes lead to skin thinning or changes in pigmentation, including hypopigmentation, especially when injected into the skin. This effect can be temporary, but in some cases, it may persist.Treatment Options:Observation: Often, the pigmentation may gradually return on its own over several months. Monitoring the area is a common initial approach, especially if the discoloration is not severe.Topical Treatments: In some cases, dermatologists may recommend topical treatments that encourage melanocyte activity, such as tacrolimus or pimecrolimus creams, which can help in repigmenting the area.Laser Therapy: Specific types of laser treatments, like excimer lasers, can stimulate repigmentation by targeting and activating melanocytes.Microneedling: This procedure can sometimes aid in repigmentation by promoting skin healing and regeneration.Consultation with a Specialist:Dermatologist Evaluation: It is important to consult with a dermatologist who has experience in treating post-procedural skin changes. They can assess the extent of hypopigmentation and recommend the most suitable treatment options.Tailored Approach: The best treatment plan may vary depending on the severity and location of the hypopigmentation, as well as your skin type.Considerations:It's crucial to have realistic expectations and to be patient, as skin healing and repigmentation can take time.Discuss potential side effects and outcomes of any treatment with your dermatologist to make an informed decision.I hope this information helps guide you on the path to addressing your concerns. Seeking advice from a qualified professional will be key in determining the best course of action for your situation. Best of luck in achieving a satisfactory resolution!
I have had very gratifying results in repigmenting hypopigmented areas and hypopigmented scars using a combination of manual microneedling (no need for the added expense or risks of adverse reactions from RF microneedling) accompanied by the application of Rx pigment enhancing agents. You would be wise to make sure to consult with an experienced, board certified cosmetic dermatologist and exercise a whole lot of "buyer beware" when being offered all kinds of expensive, supposedly "next big thing" light and energy-based gizmos many of which are part of the here-today-gone-tomorrow parade. Hope this helps and best of luck.
I'm sorry to hear you are going through this after surgery! I think the problem is somewhat two-fold in that the scar looks a bit thick and wide (which can sometimes happen when there is excess tension on the incision during recovery) and that it is very red/erythematous. For the thickness I...
Thank you for your inquiry! Scar creams can be used on scars to minimize appearance as well as silicone scar sheets. Lasers such as Microneedling can also be performed to minimize appearance as well. We would love to see you in person or virtually to discuss treatment options or schedule a...
