Can a dorsal hump be reduced with a let-down technique without widening the nose from the front? (Photos)
I’m considering a primary rhinoplasty and have very thin skin, so I want to be extremely conservative. My #1 priority is reducing/flattening my dorsal hump WITHOUT making my nose look wider from the front. Preserving my current frontal width is extremely important to me—I would genuinely rather keep the bump than end up with a wider-looking nose. Would I potentially be a good candidate for a let-down/preservation rhinoplasty to lower the dorsum while maintaining my frontal appearance and dorsal lines? My secondary concern is my tip. I would like slightly more definition and possibly a very subtle lift, as it droops a little when I smile. However, with my thin skin, I’m worried about grafts, cartilage edges, or irregularities becoming visible. I would strongly prefer to refine my existing cartilage without adding cartilage or skin/soft-tissue grafts if possible. I also do NOT want to change the shape or orientation of my nostrils. My goal is to still look like myself—essentially my current nose with a flatter profile and, if safely possible, subtle tip refinement. If addressing the tip adds too much complexity or risk, I would rather prioritize reducing the hump while preserving my frontal width and consider the tip separately later. Based on my anatomy, would a let-down approach be appropriate, and what technique would best minimize the risk of frontal widening?
