Also, is it true the more frequent a patient receive botox in the jawline do it eventually stop the grinding and maintain the narrowing of the Jawline? Thanks
Answer: Botox Works For TMJ & Shaping Of Jawline Masseter Muscle The number of units of Botox needed to get the job done properly really depends upon the degree of the severity of the problem and of the resulting masseter muscle hypertrophy. It is not uncommon in more pronounced cases to use 60-80 units per side to achieve the desired results in TMJ improvement and in appearance. Results typically can last between six to nine months. And yes, with repeated use, there is some "retraining" of the masseter to diminish the grinding and the resultant muscular hypertrophy. Make sure that you consult with a board certified, experienced cosmetic dermatologist. Best of luck.

Answer: Botox Botox is often used to slim the jawline appearance via injection into the masseter muscles. The treatment is done in the office with final results seen after two weeks. The effects will wear off gradually over three to four months. The number of units injected will vary by patients needs, but an estimate is 20 units per side. See an expert injector near you to learn more.

Answer: Botox to Masseters for TMJ Most patients require 20-30 units of Botox per side. The correct dose should last around 6 months. You need continued use to maintain the results of both the slimming as well as relieving the TMJ symptoms. Once you stop the injections, the prominence of the jawline and likely TMJ symptoms will eventually return.

Answer: Botox for TMJ Thank you for your question! The amount of Botox required to achieve relief from grinding is dependent on how hypertrophied/strong the masseter muscle feels during the assessment. An average amount for this area could be anywhere from 12-24 units per side. Some patients who have had these injections for years do tell me that they do not grind anymore. I think this could possibly be a learned habit from not being able to use the muscles are strongly as before. Please make sure to consult with a board-certified dermatologist for an in-person assessment.

Answer: Botox for square jaw, TMJ pain, & grinding I have been treating TMJ pain and grinding/clenching for many years now with great success using Botox. I first need to assess the size and strength of the masseter muscle, and ask questions related to migraines, radiating pain, usage of mouthguard etc. I generally prefer to start treatment at around 24 units of Botox per side, and if need be, will increase treatment dosage up to 36 units per side. Every one is unique and requires a careful & thoughtful & educated (see a dermatologist) assessment. I find the Botox lasts anywhere from 2-4 months initially, and does indeed tend to last longer over time, and in some cases I've been able to stop it altogether.
