How long after an abscess infection has cleared would you reinject?

Question

It was a mild slow growong absess that has gone down about 60% after dissolving the filler. Im also on a 7 day oral antibiotic and steroid medication I have been having filler since 2016 and this is the first time it has ever happened How long after the infection has cleared should ypu reinject?

Hi! I'm sorry to learn of the abscess. I would wait at least 30 days after the infection has cleared before re-injecting.

You will want to wait until you have completed your antibiotic course and the area is completely healed and inflammation resolved before considering further injection of the infected area.  Speak with your injector about your healing progress to determine when you are ready for further treatment.

You will likely notice improvement in about 6 weeks because the majority of inflammation will resolve. However, I recommend waiting at least 4-6 months for the tissue to heal because the wall of the abscess forms a barrier that slows down the body's ability to fully clear up the infection.
