Answer: Abdomen Though an in person evaluation is best, your photos indicate that the culprit of your abdominal contour is visceral fat. This is fat around your organs and cannot be improved with a tummy tuck. Weight loss is needed in order to reduce this.

Answer: Abdomen You tummy tuck still looks good, but it is not weight loss surgery. You appear to have a fair amount of internal fat and that is lost with weight loss.

Answer: Protruding abdomen The main issue you have is the protruding appearance and the reason are two: visceral fat and loose muscle. So it is extremely important to lose weight to reduce the visceral fat (achieve BMI below 30 ideally 26-27) and after that you will reduce importantly the protruding. And based on your photos I consider you may be candidate a secondary Extended Tummy Tuck to remove the dog ears and associated with muscle repair to flatten the abdomen y reduce the waistline. Be encouraged. Dr. Cárdenas

Answer: Tummy tuck results Dear Magical720582, I understand your concern. However, without a proper assessment, it would be difficult to determine what went wrong. It is best that you visit your plastic surgeon for further assessment or ask for a second opinion. Only after a thorough examination, you can get proper recommendations and advice. Answer: Large abdomen after tummy tuck In order for us to judge the outcome of a surgical procedure we typically need to see proper before and after pictures. Regardless your photograph shows a bulging large abdomen which most likely indicates excess visceral fat secondary to obesity. Weight loss is probably your best option for reducing the size of your abdomen. You didn’t include your weight but my guess is that your BMI is in the obese category. A tummy tuck cannot hold an abdomen flat if someone has a substantial amount of visceral fat pushing against the muscle wall. Talk to your primary care doctor about weight loss options or find local support groups like overeaters anonymous or weight watchers. Best, Mats Hagstrom MD
