I continue to steer patients away from facial fat transfer and instead recommend patients work with fillers.
Fillers are predictable, precise and very forgiving and fat grafting is the opposite.
Injecting steroids is not the appropriate way to manage early discontent from facial fat transfer.
You should follow up with your provider and let him or her manage your outcome. That may include revision surgery.
Inappropriate use of anti-inflammatory steroids can cause undesirable serious side effects and does not dissolve fat.
Steroids can infrequently create fat atrophy but this is a rare unusual side effect not a common occurrence with steroid injections.
When it happens it’s typically quite devastating and undesirable.
Trying to induce fat atrophy with steroid injections is not a good approach.
Follow up with your provider. If he or she is unable to manage it then I suggest having a few proper in person second opinion consultations.
For in person consultations patients should come prepared with copies of all before and after pictures and medical records from your previous procedure.
