Accidentally pulled R JP Drain almost out 6 days post-op abdominoplasty (3/20) (Photo)

Question

My R JP drain got caught on kitchen handle and yanked almost completely out. It seems to be still attached to my body and since it's not working, I would like to remove it. My drainage in both R and L were already minimal. Called my PS but has not returned my call. Can I remove this myself? Here is a picture.

Thank you for sharing your question and photograph and I am sorry to hear of your drain issues.  Most if not all of your drain has been pulled out and I would continue to contact your surgeon's office for advice.  It is easy to remove the drain but best that your surgeon be aware of it as they can also dispose of it appropriately.

While it is unlikely to cause any difference in the outcome removing it at this point, you really should be able to get in touch with your plastic surgeon to get his or her advice on this.  I would try calling again

Your drains looks like it almost completely out and is not going to work any more.  Likely it is best to just remove it, but you should check with your doc.
