Double chin, laser Lipo or CoolSculpting for young age? (Photo)

Your youth has no real effect on how well a fat-elimination technique will work. You don't seem to have a lot of submental fat, so I'd recommend a less invasive way of removing your fat, such as Kybella, which consists of a series of deoxycholic acid injections, or CoolSculpting, which kills fat cells by lowering the temperature of fat until the cells begin to undergo apoptosis. Both of these methods, however, require at least two or three treatment sessions. They also take up to three to six months before your final results are visible. Laser liposculpture lets you see your results instantly, but will leave a a scar. Consulting a board-certified dermatologist will help you decide which method is best for you.

Thanks for the question, being young does not preclude you from having a procedure. If you can understand the ramifications of a procedure after the age of 18 you will be fine to have the procedure done. It looks like you have some stubborn fat there, I suggest discussing with your parents and seeing a local expert surgeon!GOOD LUCK

I would like to see your follow up photos after a ten pound weight loss.
I would imagine that you are healthy and enjoying the American diet. Try eating 1/2  of an apple 30 mins prior to lunch and dinner. Exercise 30 mins daily and hopefully you will be able to avoid a procedure. Do double chins run in your family? If not, then you are more likely to be able to follow a natural route.

Laser lipo (Smart Lipo) works nicely for double chin neck definition. It is one session, under local, with easy recovery. It works much more effectively than cool sculpting.An exam and consultation with a plastic surgeon who performs these procedures is recommended to confirm you are a candidate as well as discuss your options and expectations.

 Liposuction and noninvasive fat-removal methods such as CoolMini CoolSculpting can both be effective to remove a double chin, as can Kybella injections. CoolSculpting and Kybella have little to no downtime, which gives them a big advantage over liposuction – particularly for younger, more active people. You will need more than one session of either of these to take care of your double chin. You should not be thinking in terms of pounds lost, but amount of fat lost. Thank you for your photos. Based on your photos I would actually recommend getting a Kybella injection. Kybella is an injectable product that can be used to help your body to rid itself of fat cells that form under the chin (submental fat). Typically, patients need 3-4 rounds of injections, each one month apart. However, I recommend getting a in person consultation with a board-certified dermatologist.  

Thanks for your question and the photos – and from what I can see, there is not much of a double chin or problem here.  You need to have a consultation with a board certified dermatologist or plastic surgeon to learn the best, if any, treatment options for you.  Kybella may be indicated as well as CoolSculpting Mini – but one might opt for skin tightening with one of the RF skin tightening devices – the EndyMed 3Deep, the Venus Legacy, or the ThermiSmooth may work well here.

They are not comparable. One is a non-invasive technology which takes three months to show results and the other is a minimally invasive surgical  technology that takes 10 days to show results. If you are in a hurry and want an instant result fast then smart lipo is the way to go. 

First, your chin/neck in the photos is not bad at all and if my exam was equivalent to what I see there, I would be hard pressed to recommend any intervention. The less than desired aesthetic of the chin and neck can be due to excess fat, loose skin, loose muscle or any combination of the three. Additionally, the skeletal components of the jaw, chin bones to the neck also have an impact. I doubt skin or muscle is an issue for you since you are young and should have firm tissues. If there is fat, liposuction alone or with some form of energy (laser/Thermi) delivered to enhance tightening would be your best bet. I would not do coolsculpting. I doubt you you would see results. Hello and thank you for your excellent question. You are a great candidate for fat reduction under the chin.  There are a few considerations when choosing a technique. Laser liposuction will likely remove almost all of the fat and tighten the skin in one setting. It can be done with oral sedation (as opposed to going to sleep). However, there will be an incision from the cannula.Cool sculpting requires no sedation at all, and does not leave a scar. However, the "rule of thumb" is that it reduces the amount of fat by 25% per session, so you might need multiple sessions to get the results you want. Preoperative visualization and surgical simulation with the Crisalix system may help with your decision. Any treatment plan should be based on a detailed discussion with equal input from both you and your surgeon.    Make sure you specifically look at before and after pictures of real patients who have had this surgery performed by your surgeon and evaluate their results.   The most important aspect is to find a surgeon you are comfortable with. I recommend that you seek consultation in person with a qualified board-certified plastic surgeon. Good luck!
