How long after experiencing a vascular occlusion can I get IPL?

Question

I recently received Volbella for lip lines and experienced a vascular occlusion. It was discovered quickly, and my physician resolved the problem before there was tissue damage. The grey-blue color faded, and capillary refill was restored. However, it has been 3 weeks, and still have some inflamed-looking capillaries and other faint discoloration. My physician says we can do some IPL in 4-5 weeks to remove the redness, etc. Is it safe to have IPL 6-8 weeks after the occlusion? Should I wait?

I would consider at least three issues after a vascular occlusion: 1) swelling, 2) redness and hyperemia, and 3) pigmentation. In the early phase, work on the swelling with mild lymphatic massage. At the 4-6 week point, very light IPL or PDL can be used to mute the redness; and 3) start very early for hyperpigmentation at the 1-3 week point with Melarase AM and Melarase PM to lighten tone.
