IPL PHOTOFACIAL is an effective treatment for removing unwanted pigment, redness and vascular lesions. It is an ideal treatment for lighter complexions (Fitzpatrick I-III occasionally light IV) From the photos you provided, I would consider an alternative laser treatment such as Pico Genesis or a Fractional laser. Based on your ethnic background and complexion, you will run a risk of burning and pigment may worsen. Fractional laser and Pico Genesis are both effective treatments for all skin types (Fitzpatrick I-VI) and work to remove unwanted pigment, texture and fine lines/ wrinkles, enlarged pores and more!

Your skin tone is not too tan for IPL skin rejuvenation. All skin types are treated cautiously, and being tanned means we have to treat your skin accordingly. This does not mean you can not be treated. We offer IPL treatments in our office. Typically, we require pre-treatment for our patients with darker complexions. This consists of prescription strength lightening agents to be applied for a minimum of 4 weeks before treatment. Sometimes the prescription alone can lighten hyperpigmentation so much that laser treatments are not necessary. In any case, it makes more invasive treatments safer and more effective for darker skin tones. It is important to always protect your skin from the sun in order to maintain your results and avoid the need for future treatments. Make sure you seek out an experienced provider.
