Anything that will act as a barrier between your binder and your sutures should help alleviate the problem. You can use non stick dressings such as Telfa, or an old soft t shirt beneath the binder. Hopefully you will be having any external sutures removed soon which will solve the problem altogether
Any clean barrier between your binder and stitches would work such as a t shirt worn under the binder or feminine napkins over the area if there is drainage. Non adherent gauze (Telfa) can work as well.
Hello, always default to your PS recommendations. ...but a few easy options include placing a clean gauze dressing over your incision in between your binder and the wound. If you are still draining fluid from the incision, then a non-stick dressing would be more favorable. If you don't have a non stick dressing...you can coat one side of a clean gauze with neosporin or triple antibiotic ointment and use that as your non stick dressing. Good Luck.
Hi Toya28450,I suggest you seek counsel from your CS so you will be following his or her post-op treatment plan. There are nonstick dressings which can be helpful in your situation, but again, check with your CS. All of the best to you and your recovery!#stitches #stickingtobinder #oneweekpostop
A layer of cotton between the polyester blend binder and your skin will relieve this (and help keep the binder clean). After removing the surgical dressings, I have my patients wear a thin cotton tee shirt under the binder. This lessens the irritation.
