Uneven pain and uncentered nipple, post breast reduction, is this normal or should I be concerned?

I am 9 days post op (BR), and I have almost no pain in my right side but some shooting pains & an achey feeling in my left side. Is this something to be concerned about? My surgeon also mentioned that I should keep centering my nipples by pulling my breast gently inside my bra and making sure they’re central. I have noticed that my left nipple is slightly off centre which I assume is why she’s told me to do this. Is this normal? And is it actually possible for the nipple to change position now?

Swelling, bruising, sharp pains and slight asymmetry between the breasts are usually experienced post-op and may persist for a few months. It usually takes 6 months before seeing your final results as only at that time will you be fully healed. What you are seeing will still undergo changes as the swelling subsides and the tissues relax. The implants will settle in time.

Dear Samtay,Thanks for the question.  Photos would help in diagnosing any issues.  The asymmetry of pain is normal.  The lack of centering of the nipple may simply be that the breasts have not fully settled yet so you must follow your surgeon's instructions and wait for several more months.Best of luck with your continued recovery.Dr T
