I’m about 3 1/2 wks po from DDD to,I’m assuming, a B.I have some rippling/bunching on my breasts. During surgery the skin was pulled really tight on both breasts, especially the left. Over the past weeks some of the ripples have turned into stretch marks, but the bottom portion of the left breast still has folds. The right breast wasnt as bad.I think my breasts were sutured too tight.I know its early but I would like to know if things will fall in place or if I’ll need a revision. Thanks
Answer: Post of BR Congratulations on your procedure. It is way too early to determine if you will need a revision. Swelling after a surgery can last anywhere from 6-8 months give or take. I would recommend giving it some time and see how the breast are a few months down the road. Follow up with your surgeon and see what he or she recommend. Best of luck to you.

Answer: Breast reduction revision Thank you for your question. Congratulations for having gone through surgery. As you are suspecting, at 3.5 weeks after surgery it is too early to be able to predict what your final scar or contour outcome will be. Your tissues are still swollen, which is expected for this stage of healing. When talking to my patients I advise them that it will take approximately 3 months for the breast and scars to settle, and really almost a year for your scars to fully mature. I recommend you speak with your surgeon about your concerns, and he / she can follow your progress and reevaluate the area in a couple of months. Best wishes, Franziska Huettner

Answer: Bunching and rippling of skin 3.5 weeks after breast reduction. Will I need a revision? Thank you for the question and photographs. I certainly understand your concerns. The good news is that this is not at all uncommon and does have a tendency to settle over time. I would give it a good three months to get a good idea of how much it will settle. I would probably wait at least six months before I considered a revision. I think it’s wise to bring these concerns to the attention of your surgeon and see if there are any recommendations that may help to speed up the process. Good luck.

Answer: Breast reduction: Will I need a revision? Although your concerns are understandable, I think that you may already have a good understanding: it is too early to evaluate the outcome of the procedure performed. I would expect a large amount of the "bunching and rippling" of the skin to smoothen out over the course of the next several months; the question that cannot be answered online is whether or not the degree of improvement will be sufficient, or whether revisionary surgery will be beneficial. Your plastic surgeon will be your best resource when it comes to more specific thoughts, advice, and/or meaningful reassurance.Best wishes for an outcome that you will be pleased with longer-term.

Answer: Rippling of skin post-breast reduction First of all, congratulations on your breast reduction, MeliaK! It’s still too early to tell if you’ll need a breast reduction revision because you’re still experiencing a lot of swelling at this point. The results you see right now can still change in a few months’ time. I suggest that you wait for about three to six months before you start thinking about breast reduction revision. For now, just continue following the aftercare instructions that your reputable and board-certified plastic surgeon gave you. Recover well!
