I have my surgery that I payed for in full in the next 6 days I just got my period & I got a cold it's probably the worse timing ever iam so worried that my surgery will be cancelled ! Can some one tell me what will happen if my cold won't go away and my period ? I'm treating my self and haven't left my bed since I felt a bit ill .

Bacterial or viral infections can delay healing time, put you at risk for infections and other negative outcomes.  If you do have the flu, as many people across the country are currently experiencing, your body may be affected by the stress of anesthesia and surgery, leading to less than optimal outcomes.  It's always best to keep your surgeon involved in your current state of health to ensure the best results and recovery.Get well soon!

Thank you sobierajska for your question.  Having your period during surgery is typically not a problem. Having a cold is another story.  I would recommend speaking with your surgeon to find out their protocol for illness and surgery.   Hope you feel better soon and best of luck with your surgery.
