Follow-up: Fat transfer to hide ripples, should I have it done for the 2nd time?

Question

I have over muscle silicone medium plus implants 400cc. 4 months ago I had fat transfer to hide rippling between cleavage and to give a more natural look. It’s helped but I can still see rippling on one side of the cleavage. Should I have it done for the second time? Does fat transfer take a few attempts to work? Thanks.

In general, 200 cc per breast is typically the upper limit of fat injection recommended by most plastic surgeons.  It is not that more cannot be injected; but on average, this has been determined to be the most that can be expected to live during one transfer.  Multiple treatments may be required to hide the rippling and provide a more natural look.

Thanks for the question.Fat transfers are very popular these days. They can help add volume and reduce rippling like you are experiencing. However, it may take more than one session to achieve the desired results.Here are a few options for your condition:1) Try another fat transfer and see if it works.2) Switch your implants to under the muscle in order to get more coverage over the implants. You could also do a fat transfer during that procedure.3) Consider switching to a more cohesive (gummy bear) implant.  Allergan breast implant company makes a range of cohesive implants with the SCX style the most cohesive and less likely to ripple.Good luck!

I would do a second transfer if you have donor fat to give more volume to hide the ripples. Otherwise, the implants can be placed behind the muscle for better coverage.

Ann,I would go for another round of fat transfer.  If it worked somewhat the first time, the second addition of fat should cover up the rippling areas.Best of luck.Dr T
