Extreme pressure/pain after rhinoplasty. Is this normal?

In general, there is NOT a lot of discomfort after rhinoplasty surgery, unless nasal packing is used. Our patients typically describe mild discomfort lasting 72 hours and subsiding. In that regard, you should visit your surgeon today to see what may be causing severe pain - sinusitis, cellulitis, and septal hematoma should be excluded. Hope this helps. Dr Joseph

The pain can be an normal but sudden increase can indicate, infection, hematoma or movement of bones. It is best to be inspected by your surgeon. RegardsDr. J

Dear arm1985,Thank you for your question. It is not typical to have severe pain or pressure after a rhinoplasty. If you still have nasal packing it can feel stuffy. Severe pain is also not typical. Hi, thank you for your question. You are still very early in your recovery period. It is common to have pressure and swelling for awhile after surgery.   I would recommend following up with your surgeon with any questions.  Best of luck to you.
