Are Stylage fillers FDA approved?

Question

Hi, I had Stylage dermal fillers at a clinic. Although I I haven’t heard of the brand or seen many good reviews on it compared to Bolereto and Juvederm. I had the Stylage filler especially for the lips. I wish I had asked before I came in what product they where using as I can’t help but worry I have been injected with a brand I haven’t researched. Is it FDA approved?. Answers would be very much appreciated.

Thanks for your question.  Stylage is not approved by the FDA as a dermal filler for cosmetic reasons in the US.  It has been widely used in other countries but I have no experience with the product.  There are many excellent FDA approved fillers so I am not sure why that one would be used....

Hi and thanks for your questionI practice in Canada and our products are health Canada approved including Stylage.I do not think Stylage has FDA approval but this does not mean that it is not a good product.I have used it for my clients with excellent result and no complication.

Thanks for your question. Stylage is a dermal filler available in Europe and elsewhere. It is not FDA approved for use in the US. It is against federal law for a physician or other provider to import from another country and then inject non FDA approved products. This is not to say that Stylage does not perform well in other countries. It has more to do with safety concerns around how the product might have been handled and/or stored prior to arrival in the US, which raises concerns about authenticity of the product and safety.
