I’m interested in doing both butt implants, abdominal etching & minimum lipo to be added around implants & minimize hip dips. Since I plan to do both of these procedures at the same time. I’m concerned because from research it’s recommended that I lay on my stomach for at least 2 weeks for the butt implants. Will this affect my abdominal etching results, what risks am I taking or how am I recommended to sleep?
Answer: Poor choices of cosmetic surgical options I’m not a fan of gluteal implants or abdominal etching so my recommendation is that you don’t have either one of them. The overall likelihood of long-term quality outcomes is dismal for both procedures. Instead of choosing your procedures I recommend you instead focus all your efforts on finding the most talented plastic surgeons and letting them give you a quality assessment and follow the recommendations. High definition Liposuction or etching fails on most patients and instead of creating attractive anatomic contours leaves people looking weird and disfigured and the outcome is permanent and irreversible. you can look impressive and slim attractive young men with tight skin. what happens to those people when they gain age, gain weight or develop a bit of skin laxity. what look good as a slim athletic 22 year old looks like some type of disfigurement with weight gain or any type of skin laxity. It’s a procedure that is destined for long-term failure. High definition Liposuction should only be considered for individuals who are quite lean and have very tight skin. If that has the potential to change in the future from things like weight gain or future pregnancies it can completely ruin the outcome leaving patients wishing they never had the operation like a bad tattoo. Gluteal implants have one of the highest complication and failure rates of any cosmetic surgical procedure. The majority of plastic surgeons in the United States don’t offer gluteal implants for a good reason. Ask yourself why your plastic surgeon would not want to take your money and do an operation. Why don’t more plastic surgeons do gluteal implants? There are a handful of surgeons in the United States who have specialized in gluteal implants and if you want to have the procedure you need to find one of those. there aren’t very many. gluteal implants in order to have quality outcomes and long-term success have to be done intramuscularly and the implant has to be small enough to easily fit inside the gluteus muscle. when those parameters are met and the procedure is done by someone who specializes in the procedure and does it on a regular basis there is a chance that gluteal implants can work and deliver a good result without undesirable side effects that are so common with this procedure. You didn’t include photographs so we can’t make an assessment but both of the procedures you describe are ones I generally steer people away from. Best, Mats Hagstrom MD
