I get hyperpigmentation scars from any type of inflammation, or minor abrasion. They take months or more to fade even with skin brightening treatments. I'm 47 and want to diminish my smile lines and marionette lines on my mouth corners when I smile; but I'm scared of a worse side effect; more PIH scarring.

Answer: Microneedling Hello! Thank you for your question. Microneedling is safe for all skin types. If done properly, there should not be any scarring or hyperpigmentation. If you are looking for a treatment for you PIH, medical grade skincare would be better. You will need to be on a regimen with hydroquinone and tretinoin.
