Hi. Great question. Adderall will not interfere with PRP treatments. NSAID (aspirin, ibuprofen, naproxen, meloxicsm, celicoxib) on the other hand do interfere and need to be stopped prior and held after. They inhibit platelets and decrease the potency of your treatments as well as increase risk of bleeding and bruising.
Please ensure you are using the absolute lowest potency steroid if you have to use it at all and that you're being monitored closely by a Dermatologist to determine if you need to be on the steroid and when to stop it. The skin on the face is very thin and absorbs more steroid than thicker skin areas (like the back) and is therefore very susceptible to side effects of atrophy - further thinning of the skin, telangiectasias - small blood vessels, and even dermatitis. I would not microneedle the skin if you're using topical steroids and would likely wait for at least 8 weeks after discontinuation before reevaluating and considering microneedling.
Hyperpigmentation with microneedling is very rare. Typically we invite patients of all Fitzpatrick classification skin types to undergo microneedling with minimal to no risk of hyperpigmentation. However, choosing the right doctor to perform this is imperative; please discuss prior to therapy how he/she will monitor your response and the needle depth. The time between treatments may also need to be extended. I would consider microneedling in PRP during the treatment to further help with the anti-inflammatory goal and for the skin rejuvenation, collagen induction and reduction of current hyperpigmentation.
The small volume of blood taken for PRP injections is not likely to affect your energy level significantly, although I do recommend to increase hydration for the day after PRP to a) help replenish the plasma volume and b) to facilitate good hydration status which is always a good thing when we're talking about getting plenty of blood flow to the tissues we're working on! It may take 8 weeks to replenish the RBC - red blood cell volume - after donating a unit of blood but we're not using RBC in PRP treatments; we're using the plasma. Provided good hydration post treatment, the plasma volume should be replenished within 48 hours.
Hello! Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) contains your body's own platelets and within those platelets ARE growth factors, anti-inflammatory cytokines and other components that work together with the channels formed by microneedling to induce collagen which can reduce the depth and appearance of wrinkles, improve skin tone and texture and can even address scars, stretch marks, and hyperpigmentation (darker spots).
