I'm wondering if there is 95% gland removal if the 5% left over will increase in cellular size or Will the cells divide if you do things that cause gyno (weight gain, steroids, marijuana, etc).

Thank you for your question about male breast reduction, gynecomastia, and chest sculpting. If you had gynecomastia reduction surgery and continue to do activities which can cause gynecomastia, male breast cells can keep growing and dividing. If you want to minimize male breast development, you should avoid things that stimulate male breast tissue. Therefore, you should avoid things that can alter in the estrogen-androgen balance, in favor of estrogen. Gynecomastia can be caused by increased amounts of estrogen or increased sensitivity of the male breast tissue to normal circulating amounts of estrogen. There is a long list of medications which can cause estrogen–androgen imbalance. In addition, abuse of steroids, amphetamines, alcohol, and marijuana can cause gynecomastia. Do yourself a favor, if you have had gynecomastia and gynecomastia surgery, it is best to avoid things which can cause recurrence of gynecomastia. Good luck. Reccurence of gynecomastia is possible if your gland is not excised properly.
If only 5% of the gland is left,it practically impossile to have reccurence of the gynecomastia,but if liposuction is done and only 80% of the gland was removed the reccurence rate can be high.
