A dermatologist told me back in the 70's that I could never have a face lift due to keloid skin. Has technology advanced so much that I would be able to have a neck lift? I am caucasian in my 60's
Answer: I have keloid skin. Would I be able to have a neck lift? = there is a high chance that keloids will form #necklift #doctormesa Patients with history of keloids ( usually black people) have a high risk of developing keloids where the incisions are made.In muy practice, when a patient with high risk of keloid is interested in undergoing a neck lift or a face lift, I tell them that keloids could form, but that we could prevent them with monitoring and injection of steroids in the surgical scars. It is up to the patients if they are willing to trade the risk of the keloid formation with the benefits of the rejuvenate plastic surgery procedure they wish to undergo.

Answer: Keloid skin and facelifts More than likely you are a candidate for a facelift. If you were told you had 'keloid skin'- that means you generally develop growing scar tissue in areas of trauma on your skin. So if you have had your earlobes pierces, and developed keloids, then yes. If you have had surgery on your neck or chest or other areas and develop keloids, then likely you are at risk. If not, then speak to a plastic surgeon, discuss your concern and go from there.

Answer: I have keloid skin. Would I be able to have a neck lift? Keloids are more common on the trunk with dark skinned individuals. It's rather rare, but not impossible to have a keloid on the face from cosmetic surgery. It's also important to look at your previous scarring history and look at whether or not previous incisions are a keloid versus a hypertrophic scar . A thorough examination will be required to make a determination about what may be needed.

Answer: I have keloid skin. Would I be able to have a neck lift? You don't say what prompted him to say that or supply your scarring history. You don't show what your scar(s) looks like now. So the answer is probably.
