If you live in a civilized country and have a normal diet, you don't need to take vitamins or supplements in general. If your surgeon told you to take Zinc, then go for it, as I always advocate that patients follow their doctors recommendations. But if you're looking around on the Internet to find information, you will end up with conflicting information.
It's a good idea to speak to your surgeon about zinc supplementation post transplant. In general, zinc does not provide any added benefit for most people. If one has intestinal issues leading to poor absorption, or dietary issues that might give zinc deficiency, it could be advised. For example, I often check zinc levels in my own patients with hair loss if they fall in these categories massive weight lossgastric bypassalcoholismdiarrheal diseases (inflammatory bowel disease and others)restrictive dietsdiebetesprotein restrictive dietspregnancy strict vegan dietsLong term zinc supplementation can affect many metals in the body, including copper, so I never advise my own patients to over supplement without checking the levels of other metals periodically. All the metals need to be kept in balance for optimal health, so supplementation (without need) is not something I advise my own patients.

Zinc is effective if you have a zinc deficiency, otherwise it has little value. I generally do not recommend that people take vitamins or any supplements unless they are deficient in those vitamins. It has been well documented that vitamins are not needed if your daily requirements are met.
You really need to ask post surgery questions to your doctor. Your doctor knows your personal medical information and can direct you to a better treatment plan.In general, there should be no issue with aloe.
