I’m a board certified cosmetic surgeon and specialized in hairrestoration surgery for many years. I have been in practice in Manhattan andLong Island for over 20 years. I am happy to say that there is anotheralternative to hair transplants, especially for someone like you who is goingthrough hair thinning and still has hair left. In the past several years, we’vedeveloped an alternative treatment called Hair Regeneration which has turnedout to be quite an effective way to treat hair loss, particularly in people whostill have existing hair. If someone is bald and they want hair placed where they don’t havehair, hair transplant is still the only option. However, in people who havethinning hair, Hair Regeneration is a good option. This treatment combines amaterial called Acellular matrix which was originally designed for woundhealing, with platelet-rich plasma (PRP). We have treated hundreds of patientsaround the world for the past few years, and we have a certain protocol thathas turned out to be close to a 100% effective for male pattern hair loss. Hair Regeneration is actually an injection. It’s a treatment that takesless than 2 hours to perform, and we follow our patients very closely after theprocedure. Our data supports the efficacy of this treatment. The earlier wecatch somebody, the more hairs we can save and the more volume we can get back.Even people who are Norwood 3-4 have had a lot of regrowth and we have beenvery impressed with the results. We have developed a company called Trichostem® Hair Regeneration whereour mission is to bring this treatment closer to many people. We’re honored andprivileged to give patients who come to us from all over the world for thistreatment, but we want to make it more accessible. With this technique andformulation, we want to ensure a certain level of quality. In most cases, depending on the level of hair loss, we’ve actually been able to demonstratethat the injection can exceed the results of two hair transplant surgeries. It’sa fraction of the cost and the down time of a hair transplant, and it avoidsthe downward spiral of patients who undergo a transplant where they run out ofdonor area and may not have enough coverage. We have 5 years of data which show longevity of the treatment. Someonemay need to do this injection every 3-5 years, but doing this is a lot easierand more desirable than getting a transplant every few years until you run outof donor area. Hair Regeneration is something that you should certainlyinvestigate. More than ever, we are very enthusiastic about helping people withhair loss and it has made a big difference for patients who come to us. I think that you have tried one very useful modality that I also recommend in my practice however, if you have had no results over the last six months, then it's time to re-evaluate the situation. If we are to continue using the medical management of hair loss then at this time I would suggest that you use a combination of PRP and low laser light therapy. It's quite possible that it will give you the results that you're looking for and I would give this another 4 to 6 months, and if again you are not seeing an improvement which is unlikely, especially if you follow the protocol that I recommend that would be quite surprised however you may be the rare individual that ultimately needs to just bite the bullet and go for a minimally invasive hair transplant procedure and i'm encouraged that you were obtain an excellent long-lasting results. Good luck !
