Our treatments use combination therapy to improve the epidermis and dermis for most deep scars. The options available for acne scars depend on the character of your scars, in terms of topography and contour. We see atrophic and hypertrophic acne scars, as well as scars that have hypo and hyperpigmentation. We begin each scar evaluation with an assessment of scar quality and subtype. Our main concern is rebuilding collagen and that is why we use a HIDEF protocol that includes combination therapy. Morpheus 8, scar subcision, fibrous release, fractional laser, CO2 laser, Thulium laser, PDL Vbeam laser, and fractional resurfacing can be used in addition to TCA Cross and chemical peels to further improve skin. Patients should start Melarase AM and Melarase PM for active hyperpigmentation. Always begin with a consultation to decide whether early subcision should be started. Elta MD Line has a great Intense Moisturizer that is fragrance free and long-lasting. Melting Moisturizer penetrates skin cell layers to provide superior long term moisturizing. I highly recommend it for your peeling process. Best,Dr. Alex Khadavi MD
Immediately after the peel, you want to keep the skin moist to prevent scabbing and cracking. I recommend an occlusive ointment like Aquaphor for the first 2-3 days. You also need to apply sunscreen daily. We perform the VI medium depth peel in our office. It comes with a post-treatment kit which includes a skin protectant containing hydrocortisone and a 50 SPF sunscreen. The sunscreen should be applied daily and the protectant as needed for itching and irritation for the first several days after the peel. I don’t recommend makeup until 5-7 days after our VI peel, then mineral makeup is a good choice. Glycolix Has a great line of moisturizers, from Ultra Lite to Rich, depending on your skin type, which we also have available with our VI peel.
Hello Anna_SkinCare, Thank you for submitting your question. I would wait a week until your skin has healed from the peel. As chemical peels tend to bring all impurities to the surface you may notice a bit more of a break out during this time. Wait 5-7 days and you can then move forward with the...
