I am only 20 and I lost 150 pounds. My loose skin is bothering me very very much. I am thinking of getting a lower body lift and work on my breasts within the next 12-18 months when I save more money. I know this surgery is the right decision for me. My question is - what happens if I decide to get pregnant in the future? Will it completely mess up my results? I do not plan to get pregnant until a good 5+ years but my loose skin is bothering me now so what should I do? Thanks.
Answer: Body Lift Before or After Pregnancy Thank you for your question regarding what happens if you get a body lift and then decide to get pregnant after your body lift. Thank you for your excellent question. This is a common question for plastic surgeons specializing in plastic surgery after massive weight loss. My advice is this; If you plan on getting pregnant within the next year, hold off on your lower body fit and get pregnant. You don't. When you're going to get pregnant, I will proceed with the lower body lift. Hundreds of patients have had pregnancies after their lower body lift, and their results are not destroyed. The body lifts are so tight that they will accommodate some of the skin. You will not ruin your lower body lift results if you get pregnant. I suggest proceeding with your lower body lift now and enjoying your body. I hope my answer helps clarify whether you should get a lower body lift before or after pregnancy.

Answer: What happens if I get a body lift but then decide to get pregnant in the future? While it is not possible to predict what will happen, for most patients, a pregnancy after a body lift is not a problem. There may be a need for a touch up later.

Answer: Pregnancy after body lift Wow! Great job on the weight loss! It is understandable that you would like to get rid of the extra skin and soft tissue that is on your abdomen. A body lift procedure will help you look better in clothes and reveal your shapely figure. That being said, you are young and are likely only beginning to think about family planning. Pregnancies can affect your surgical outcome. For any woman, a baby will stretch the abdominal area, causing stretch marks as well as loose tissue. It is difficult to look into a crystal ball to predict the future when it comes to surgical results after a pregnancy - the changes may be minimal or they may be more significant. If the changes to your abdomen and body are unacceptable after having children, revisions can be done.Removing the excess tissue now will help your self esteem and your overall appearance. If you are all right with the thought that you may need some revisionary surgery in the future after having children, proceeding with a body lift may be the right choice for you.Good luck!

Answer: If I get a body lift but get pregnant? The question comes up after tummy tuck as well. What happens after a body lift or tummy tuck and then you get pregnant. Well, there is data in our literature which shows women go through pregnancy and even delivery pretty much as they normally would. More stretch marks, perhaps, and some recurring skin laxity, but not really so much. If you were planning pregnancy we would suggest that should come first, but a future pregnancy would be OK after.
