Hi, I’m 6’1 172 lbs, slim build. I had this roll on the lower part of my skull for about 3 years. I don’t know if it’s fat or excess skin. I was wondering am I able to get rid of it through exercise? Or would I have to get some sort of medical procedure done? Also does poor posture affect it in any way. Thank you

Answer: Skin fold in lower occipital area It very likely combination of skin fold and possibly, collection of fat. Excision of the skin with scar hidden in the hairbareing scalp would be one of the options. In person consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon is recommended. Good luck.

Answer: Posterior scalp This excess skin is not uncommon in the posterior scalp area. Losing weight may not change it either. Liposuction with radiofrequency to tighten the skin could be tried, but some hair loss might occur. Liposuction alone could also be tried without risking hair loss as much. Otherwise, the excess can be cut off, but it will leave a long scar and hair loss may occur over the scar.
