I am a 35 year old male. I have lost 30 lbs since January with healthy eating and exercise. My face looks drawn and two weeks ago I suddenly noticed very deep dark lines under my eyes. Will this correct itself with time. I want keep the weight off but I don't want to look older than my usual young appearance.
Answer: Your big problem is not the tear trough. The line in your cheek is your mid-cheek groove. It is not the tear trough. Careful filling by a very experienced injecting physician or surgeon will correct this for 1-2 years at a time. There are more permanent solutions. However I would work with the reversible fillers (Restylane and Perlane) until your weight is stable.

Answer: Will my tear troughs fade after my weight loss? What you have observed is common after significant weight loss. As you lose facial fat it unmasks the underlying ageing process that was camouflaged by the fat. You typically notice the tear trough, a line going down ( mid facial line) and the rim of the eye socket. All in the shape of a curved 'Y". Fillers can fill these hollows and improve your appearance. You need to repeat them once every 1-2 years. All the best

Answer: Dark circles under eyes Dark lines under the eyes can occur with volume loss in the face. Volume loss occurs with aging or rapid weight loss. I would not expect this to correct itself or improve. However, it will likely not worsen either. When you have reached your target weight goal I would look into fillers if the dark lines still bother you.

Answer: TEAR TROUGHS AND WEIGHT LOSS I suspect that you are noticing your tear trough deformity now that you have lost some facial fullness. I do not expect this to self correct and believe that you will likely need soft tissue fillers or autologous fat to improve the condition and help convert the shadows into highlights.

Answer: Facial changes after weight loss Your weight loss has caused an exaggeration of natural aging changes with volume loss in the mid cheek area. This can be corrected with filler that will last a long time and look natural - but I do not think that it will "fix itself" with time. Congrats on your weight loss! the good news is there are great, easy, non-surgical options to correct the facial loss.
