I had my nose fixed one week after I broke it. I would like to know when if i can exercise?

Question

I had a non displaced nasal fracture. it was a pretty light surgery and will have my splint removed in 2 days. even though it has already come off and i now keep it in place with some scotch tape. im talking about physical activity like weight training or tennis.

In general, I tell my patients it is good to refrain from sports which
require exertion for 6-8 weeks since this can increase the swelling in the nose
however you should always check with your surgeon for specific guidelines.

Each surgeon will have his/her preference.  For my patients, I allow light cardio (jogging, elliptical) at 2 weeks after surgery, and full exercise 4 weeks after surgery.  Touch base with your surgeon to ensure the best results.

Dear  smashedface~Thank you for your question.  After a closed reduction of a nasal fracture, I would normally ask patients to avoid strenuous activity for two weeks, and to start light and increase over a week.Also, be aware that anything that involves bending over or straining is going to make your nose swell more, though this is not damaging to your nose.Please check with the person who performed your procedure about any post-operative concerns.Best wishes,Amy Hsu

Usually I have my patients wait about 3-4 weeks to start aerobics and about 6 weeks to start heavy lifting, but you should ask your surgeon.

physical activity that you decide to undertake at this stage. I am sure you
