I had an muellerectomy one year ago. I discussed my concerns of my left eyelid lifting much higher than right with Upneeq and Phenlypherine drops. Surgeon did a 7.2 mm raise. Follow up, left eye was 3 mm and right was 5 mm. Surgeon said this is the highest it will lift now as there is no more swelling at 3 weeks post op. He told me my eyes are too dry for another surgery at 6 months post. I have been doing warm compresses and eye drops regularly though. What can I do?

thank you for posting your question. First, there are solutions! Your ptosis outcome does not have to stay like this. Muellerectomy with its posterior approach for ptosis repair is an established surgical technique that works for many patients, but not for all. The anterior approach ( incision is the same like an upper blepharoplasty) allows the surgeon to identify the retracted levator muscle and to attach it back. There is more swelling involved, but it is a very controllable procedure. It is best to consult either with your previous surgeon, or an oculoplastic surgeon. I hope this helps.
