Tanning bed after rhinoplasty?

As you have already mentioned, tanning beds are not a great idea in general due to the fact that they will cause your skin to age more rapidly and increase your risk of future skin cancer.  Having said that, for the first 3 months or so following rhinoplasty, sun exposure will tend to cause increased swelling of the nose, and so I usually recommend that patients are particularly careful during this period.  And finally, don't be self conscious about your white skin.  I'm sure it is beautiful!  Good luck.

Hello,I recommend patients staying out of the sun and heat because it can damage how the nose heals in high temperatures. I would recommend that you don't go to a tanning bed only 2 months post op. Generally speaking, no plastic surgeon is going to condone tanning. That is the enemy of the skin. But, if nobody did it, we wouldn't have a job. Bottom line...tan away. It will do nothing to your healing process.
