So I've been taking zicam since Saturday night and this morning I feel like a cold is starting to kick in. I'm going to continue taking zicam and I'm loading up on orange juice. Will I still be able to go under tomorrow morning and go through with the procedure?

Answer: Getting a cold before rhinoplasty If your cold is very severe, there may be good reasons to cancel your surgery but I wouldn't panic. I would carry on taking the medication, lots of fluid and rest and would let your surgeon know what's going on so they can advise you further. If I have patients in this situation, I tend to advise them to attend the hospital on the day of surgery as planned so that we can assess them. Generally speaking it is perfectly safe to go ahead, provided your symptoms are localised to the nose and quite mild. If you have any chest symptoms, shortness of breath or a cough, then you may need to reschedule
