Would getting lipo for a slimmer stomach ruin the tattoo? (Photos)

Thank you for your question. Looking at the photos you have provided, I do believe you would be a great candidate for liposuction. Your tattoo should be fine, you should receive some skin retraction as well with the lipo. I would suggest seeing a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon in person to evaluate you and discuss your options. Getting liposuction for a slimmer stomach shouldn’t necessarily ruin a tattoo, but it can potentially alter its appearance. The extent of the impact depends on factors like the location and size of the tattoo, as well as the skill of the surgeon. In some cases, the tattoo might appear slightly distorted or shifted due to changes in the surrounding skin. It’s essential to consult with a skilled plastic surgeon who can assess the potential risks to your tattoo.

Liposuction will remove excess fat only and does not remove skin. Your tattoo should be fine, just less fullness in the areas.

Liposuction incisions are tiny and heal to where they are sometimes hard to find. They should not impact your tattoo. Contour irregularities are a risk of liposuction as is skin laxity. I encourage you to visit with a board certified plastic surgeon near you. After an examination and discussion of your goals your surgeon can let you know what you can expect in terms of results.

Liposuction involves removal of fat but it is done beneath the skin and should have no impact on the tattoo. However, as the abdomen flattens, and given the possibility of some sagging of the skin, the position of the tattoo may change slightly.

Incisions for liposuction can be well hidden and even if placed in the inked part of the tattoo they are usually well camouflaged.
Liposuction results very substantially based on who does the procedure so I encourage patients to be very careful when it comes to choosing providers for this procedure.
Do that by having multiple in person consultations at which time you should ask each provider to show their entire collection of before and after pictures. And experience provider should have no difficulty showing you at least 50 sets of before and after pictures. Highly experienced providers will have hundreds or even thousands of before and after pictures for this commonly performed procedure.
Considering how common tattoos are you should have no difficulty finding previous patients who had tattoos and got liposuction if a provider is willing to open up their portfolio and show you as efficient number of pictures.
Look very carefully at all areas treated when reviewing before and after pictures and making sure there are no skin contour irregularities anywhere.

Leaving part of the torso untreated is a bit like a partially finished tattoo or painting three walls of a house.
A full torso includes upper abdomen, lower abdomen, love handles all the way to the top of the hip dip if one is present, waist, entire back and under arm (armpit) all the way to the side of the breast.
Continue having in person consultations until you found a provider who seems to have sufficient skill and experience to deliver the results you’re looking for.
