It all depends on how you are healing. Some patients have minimal swelling, and can resume activities in a few days. If you are very swollen and your vision is blurred, you will want to wait longer. If you are using an ointment, only use at bedtime if you want clearer vision during the day.
I do not recommend for my patientsto drive for at least 7-10 days and of course one must be off of painmedication.
As long as your vision has returned to normal and you are off all prescription pain medications, you should be able to drive.
Most patients can drive within 2-5 days following blepharoplasty. Patients should avoid driving while taking pain medication, but otherwise, the downtime is minimal with this type of surgery.
Thank you for yourquestion.Driving is typically allowed 7-10 days after blepharoplasty, or upper and lower eyelid surgery. To be sure, see twoor more board-certified providers in your area for a complete evaluation tomake sure you are a good candidate and that it is safe for you to havetreatment.I hope this helps.
As long as your vision is not impaired and you have recovered from the sedating effects of the anesthesia, you are fine to start driving. Make sure you are in touch with your surgeon because they will check your vision after surgery to confirm that it is safe for you to return to the roads. Good luck!
My patients find that the down time is very short -- usually your vision is normal after 48 hours. It;s the ointment you use to keep your eyes lubricated that causes the blurryness and as the swelling and dryness goes away vision is normal.
Return to safe driving is different for each individual patient. Hard and fast rules are no driving while taking narcotic pain medication or any other medication that might cause sedation. Additionally, if you have swelling from the surgery that is impairing your vision you should not drive either. In general, the vast majority of my patients undergoing eyelid surgery can drive within a few days. Use your best judgement and if there are any questions consult with your surgeon. Good luck,Cody Koch
First, you should always ask your surgeon. Second, you want to be off all pain meds or medications that can make you drowsy. Usually I allow patients to drive about a week to ten days after surgery.
Not during the first week when sutures are in place. Depending on the degree of swelling and whether this affects your visual fields, you should be able to drive thereafter, assuming that you aren't taking any prescription pain meds.

Dear LR888Thank you for your question and photo! There can be several things that change with your eyelids over time- return of puffing fat, loss of cheek and malar volume, eyelid skin thinning, and changes in the eyelid muscle ( it can look like puffy fat)! With Warm RegardsTrevor M Born MD
