Would a graft help widen my nose after an alarplasty?

Question

I had an alarplasty that was overdone. 5mm was removed from each side (I think alar wall was removed as well). I feel that my nostrils and the bottom portion of my nose are now too small and look unnatural/pinched compared to how it used to look. Is it possible to widen my nose, by atleast 3mm on each side? First pictures are my new nose, last pictures are before.

According to the photos, your nostrils look very natural and beautiful. Frankly, I would not recommend a new operation.

Unfortunately you cannot reverse alarplasty (narrowing of the nostrils). If an attempt is made to reverse it the scarring is extensive. Also it is almost impossible to achieve symmetry in the nostrils. Keep in mind the mild asymmetry in nostrils is not notice by anyone except you and does not effect the beauty of the nose. Attempts at widening the nostrils leave behind noticeable scars.

Hello! Great question. You can reverse an overly resected alarplasty, but it isn't always easy to do. Often times, local flaps and composite grafts are needed to expand the nostril. The results, despite best efforts, don't always appear unnoticeable as the skin isn't a complete match. I would ensure that you're completely dissatisfied with your result as the reversal can be a process. Hope this helps!
