Do butt implants make the hips wider?

Dear Sam,   Back and side view pictures would have been very helpful.       Before discussing the butt implants, let me tell you that fat injection to the butt or hips is a waste of your time and money, because the fat disappear completely or almost completely within few months or even sooner. I have seen in on many patients who came to my surgery center for butt implants surgery, after their big disappointment from the fat injection surgery that was done by other doctors.    Think about it this way. I fat injection was reliable and consistent, most women would have selected that procedure for breasts augmentation over breasts implants. The reality is that the number one cosmetic surgery in the US is breasts augmentation with implants... Fat injection to the butt or hips does not work!   Now, about butt implants. There are different techniques for that surgery - sub muscular, intra muscular and sub fascia. Only the last one allows for placement of large implants that can fill the hips' indentation , or  allow to dissect the pocket lateral enough, up to the hips' indentation, so that even smaller implants can be placed and fill the indentation. That can not be done with the other techniques.    Always, consult with experienced board certified plastic surgeons who perform the sub fascia technique in accredited surgery center for your safety. Most importantly, check the before and after picture in the photo gallery, to make sure that they are numerous, consistent and attractive with nice 'S' curve, nice projection, round hips and natural look.                   Best of luck,                                          Dr Widder   

It is very difficult to determine the exact size and shape implant you will require to best match your ideal butt image without an examination by a board certified plastic surgeon. Not just any board certified plastic surgeon, but one with many years of frequently performing breast augmentation surgery including different approaches, techniques and implant choices. This is because several measurements not to mention your breast characteristics are needed to determine the optimal implant size to obtain your goals. Without knowing these dimensions it would be difficult to make this determination. For example, the existing base width of your buttock will determine, in many cases, the maximal volume per implant profile that you can accommodate. Liposuction of your lower back and fat transfer is also helpful as an adjunct to implants. Using “want to be” photos however are useful if simply provided to the surgeon.

Buttock implants will augment the central buttock and will not increase the size of your hips........
