Hello nina16072018, I appreciate your questions! Thalassemia is an inherited blood disorder in which the body makes an abnormal form of hemoglobin. This medical condition results in excessive destruction of red blood cells, which leads to anemia. Thalassemia minor is a less serious form of the disorder. Based on my experience performing cosmetic procedures, you are not disqualified from getting VASER Liposuction with fat transfer to the buttocks (Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL). However, before committing to a BBL procedure, patients should be in good physical and mental health. Preferably, they must be free of any active diseases that could make them unable to endure BBL surgery and recovery period. I would recommend a medical clearance from the hematologist prior to BBL. As a general rule, it would be safe to perform buttocks augmentation with fat transfer if patients have a hemoglobin level over 10. Request an in-person consultation with an experienced plastic surgeon to assess your candidacy for BBL based on your age, skin laxity, body shape and health status, among other factors. During the first consultation, you will have the opportunity to discuss your specific needs and concerns. Best wishes! Dr. De La Cruz.
