Thank you for your question. In the majority of cases both procedures can be done at once, but as a surgeon one always aims to preserve the necessary blood supply to the tissues to ensure healing. Depending on the amount of filler needed to be removed and the size of the lip reduction requested, occasionally the two procedures are staged. Hope that this helps.
I appreciate your concern and while full history and physical exam is optimal, you would most likely benefit from lip reduction surgery with simultaneous removal of permanent filler. The procedure is done in the office, under local anesthesia, and it takes about one hour. Recovery is usually one week, as postop, the lips are quite swollen. Check out the link below to an article I wrote about the procedure. Seek out a board certified plastic surgeon with lots of experience with lip surgery, good luck
Hi Kanelle,Lip reduction and removal of filler can be done separately or at the same time. Some surgeons prefer not to perform these procedures because it can be difficult to remove permanent filler and it can lead to irregularities and asymmetries. Let me know if you have any other questions. Good Luck!- Dr. K
Thank you for your question and photograph. I can see your area of concern and am sorry to hear of your scarring. I would not pursue lip reduction surgery as it will significantly alter the appearance of your lip, while resulting in a continued scar to your upper lip. I would...

Hello,Lips can be reduced in an office setting. It is done usually under local anesthesia and patients are made quite comfortable. The sutures are placed on the inside portion of the lip to help conceal a scar. Final results are between 3-6 months. Best, Anil Shah
Hello and thank you for the question. In simply glancing at your photos, the only way I see to reduce them is though a surgical procedure. This can be done in office or with light anesthesia. It typically takes 1-1.5 hours and is done with your input. I have patients pucker until they are...
I understand your concerns, but I am afraid that lip reduction surgery is your only option, so save up and don't throw your money away on other "cures". The procedure is done in the office, under local anesthesia, and it takes about one hour. Recovery is usually one week, as postop, the lips are...
While physical exam is optimal, your photos demonstrate classic lip hypertrophy, amenable to lip reduction surgery. This is accomplished under local anesthesia, in the office and takes about one hour. Recovery takes about a week for swelling to dissipate and patient satisfaction is high. Seek...
