Should I consider a lip reduction? (Photo)

I appreciate your concern and while physical exam is optimal, your photos demonstrate that you would most likely benefit from lip reduction surgery, possibly combined with scar revision of the scar above your lip. The procedure is done in the office, under local anesthesia, and it takes about one hour. Recovery is usually one week, as postop, the lips are quite swollen. Thank you for your question and photograph.  I can see your area of concern and am sorry to hear of your scarring.  I would not pursue lip reduction surgery as it will significantly alter the appearance of your lip, while resulting in a continued scar to your upper lip.  I would recommend to better improve your scar's appearance that you pursue adjunct therapies of good skin care with retinol use and chemical peels as well as consider the use of a dermal filler to help improve the scar's appearance with the surrounding skin.  See an ASPS board certified plastic surgeon in consultation.
